LAFCO—short for Luxury Articles & Fragrance Co.—was founded in New York City in 1992 by Jon Bresler, a lawyer who got hooked on aromatherapy oils during a year working in Switzerland. The candles burn a soy-based wax and come in hand-blown glass vessels left deliberately unbranded, meant to be kept and reused once the candle is gone. Each fragrance is built around a room in the house.
